Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi is the best Dragon Ball beat'em up to date. It relates the entire Dragon Ball Z saga with barely any story gaps and includes original scenes from the anime. The graphics are well done and the gameplay is surprisingly diverse for a beat'em up. The only problem are the controls, which are not as exact as they should be. Overall, this game is a must-have for any Dragon Ball Z fan.
Capturing the breadth of the Dragon Ball Z franchise is no small feat, and Ultimate Tenkaichi does an admirable job. While combat can be a bit on the repetitive side, there's still that hint of satisfaction when you decimate your foe with an canyon-creating power move. There's a lot here for fans to enjoy, and while the story may be streamlined for new fans of the franchise, I can't really recommend it to anyone but the hardcore.

Fun but flawed. While the anime cutscenes are awesome, the story is more often told through extremely slow moving walls of text. While the characters all have their original voice actors (or very similar voice actors in the case of some of the villains), the music is very generic. While the battles have lots of satisfying quick time events and cutscenes, the load times in the game are absolutely criminal.
It doesn't become the ultimate Dragon Ball game we have been expecting for years, although it brings something new and different which adds freshness to the series. Unfortunately, its great graphics cannot hide a system too simple and repetitive.
Comes closer to perfecting the style of the Dragon Ball Z universe than any previous game, but the combat system is too simplistic to offer any real depth, and so we can only recommend Ultimate Tenkaichi to the most hardcore fans of the franchise.
